4D Gaussian Splatting: 3D scenes that change over time
4D Gaussian Splatting extends the 3D technique by adding a temporal dimension, allowing you to visualize how a scene changes over time in Vision Pro.
What is 4D Gaussian Splatting?
4DGS adds temporal deformations to each Gaussian. Instead of static particles, each one has a trajectory defining how it moves or changes over time.
It allows rendering a 3D scene at any instant within a captured time interval, like a navigable 3D video. The viewer can move freely while advancing or reversing in time.
Unlike 360º video, 4DGS maintains true 3D parallax and depth at every temporal frame, with 6DoF freedom of movement.
4DGS applications in Artsuka
We use 4DGS to document temporal evolution: monthly construction progress, seasonal changes, urban transformations and industrial processes.
The pipeline captures multiple 3D splats at regular intervals and interpolates them via temporal deformation, packaged as a dynamic .artsu file.
Benefits
True 3D parallax
Unlike 360º video, you maintain 6DoF freedom at every instant.
Timeline control
Advance, reverse or pause time while navigating the scene.
Temporal documentation
Record how a project changes over weeks or months.
Total immersion
Visualize evolution at real scale in Vision Pro with photorealism.
Use cases
Construction progress
Document construction evolution with monthly 4D splats.
Urban transformation
Visualize how a neighborhood or city changes over time.
Industrial processes
Capture assembly lines or manufacturing in 4D for training.
Landscaping
Show how a garden or landscape changes across seasons.
FAQ
No. 360º video only changes the viewing angle from a fixed point. 4DGS allows 6DoF movement within the scene while controlling time.
Multiple 3D splats are captured at regular intervals and interpolated temporally via Gaussian deformation.
Vision Pro offers the best experience. Also works on macOS and Windows with Artsuka Studio.
A 10-frame 4D splat is 500MB-2GB. Artsuka optimizes compression.
